5.4/10

My stay at Holiday Inn Merida was a mixed bag. The location is fantastic, right near Paseo Montejo and plenty of eateries, which made exploring the city easy. However, the hotel feels a bit run down and could definitely use some refreshment—especially the rooms which lacked windows and featured noisy air conditioning. Overall, if you’re just looking for a place to crash after a busy day, it's okay, but I wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay.

Rooms
5.0
The room I got was spacious and equipped with a comfy bed, but it had a skylight instead of proper windows, which felt bizarre and dim.
Service
5.0
While some staff were helpful, my experience with the front desk was frustrating; they initially told me they had no change for tips but finally found some after multiple trips.
Location
8.0
The location is a huge plus—walking distance to vibrant areas with a mix of high-end and affordable dining options, plus it was great for accessing downtown and tourist sites.
Dining
6.0
The breakfast buffet was good with a decent selection, but dining options otherwise seemed limited in quality and variety.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities were basic but adequate; I didn't use the pool much as it didn’t have a relaxing vibe and the overall ambiance felt outdated.

5.2/10

While the Holiday Inn Merida offers a great location near Paseo de Montejo with plenty of dining options nearby, the hotel itself feels quite dated and in need of a refresh. The service was hit or miss, with some staff being friendly and helpful, but others dropping the ball. I appreciated the comfortable bed and decent breakfast, but the overall experience didn’t quite meet my expectations considering the issues with cleanliness and outdated amenities.

Rooms
5.0
The room was decent, but had no windows and only a skylight, which felt odd. I was initially given a room overlooking a parking lot, but thankfully, the staff was accommodating and switched me to a better room.
Service
5.0
Service varied quite a bit. While some staff were friendly, I encountered issues like the front desk being out of change for tipping, which was frustrating. Additionally, the cleaning team didn't service my room one day without any explanation.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location is fantastic for exploring Merida. It's within walking distance of various restaurants, bars, and shops, making it easy to experience the local culture.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast was good with a buffet offering local dishes, but dinner was just average. I did enjoy the outside seating area which had a nice ambiance.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities need some work. The pool area isn't very inviting, and I noticed cleanliness issues, like a dead bug in the mosquito net. Additionally, the AC in my room was pretty noisy during the night.

I had a mixed experience at the Holiday Inn Merida. The location is fantastic, being close to the lively Montejo area with plenty of restaurants and shops. Unfortunately, the hotel itself felt quite dated and in need of a refresh, which affected my overall stay. While the staff was friendly and helpful, certain aspects like cleanliness and noise from nearby facilities could be improved.

Rooms

The room I stayed in was spacious and comfortable, though it lacked natural light as it had a skylight instead of windows. I did appreciate the ample space for my belongings, but there weren’t enough electrical outlets, which was a bit of a hassle.
Service
5.0
The service had its highs and lows. The front desk staff was accommodating when I needed to switch rooms for a better view. However, there were moments, like trying to get change for tips, where their service felt lacking.
Location
8.0
I loved the location! It was easy to get to restaurants, bars, and shops nearby, and I could even stroll to the historic district with a bit of effort. It's a great area to immerse myself in Merida's culture.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast buffet was a pleasant surprise, offering a variety of local dishes and continental options. Dinner was average with some decent choices, but I wasn't particularly impressed.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel has basic facilities that functioned well enough. However, the pool area didn’t feel inviting, and I didn’t feel inclined to spend any leisure time there. Room service was available but not used during my stay.

6.6/10

I had a mixed experience at Holiday Inn Merida. The location is prime for exploring the heart of Merida—everything from high-end restaurants to local coffee shops is just a walk away. However, the hotel itself feels outdated and is more suited for a quick stay rather than a relaxing getaway. The pricing is a definite plus, but the amenities and service could use some serious improvement.

Rooms

My room was clean and had a comfy bed, but it lacked windows, only featuring a skylight, which felt odd. It was also somewhat noisy, especially with the air conditioning.

The front desk staff was less than helpful when I needed change for a tip, and overall, the service felt inconsistent. However, there were exceptions, like a fantastic breakfast host who made my mornings better.

I loved the location! It’s right near Paseo Montejo and close to local restaurants and shops. Perfect for getting a real feel of the city without having to travel far.
Dining

Breakfast was good, with a decent buffet selection, but the dining area was a bit chaotic at times. I did appreciate the traditional Mexican options and some comfort food.

Facilities were lacking a bit, overall. Pool area didn’t feel inviting, and room service didn’t have great appeal. The hotel could definitely use a refresh.

During my stay at the Holiday Inn Merida, I found the location to be the highlight, nestled close to interesting spots and dining options. however, the hotel itself felt quite outdated and needed significant refreshing. The front desk service was hit or miss, which detracted from the overall experience. If you're just looking for a place to sleep and explore the city, this may suffice, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything beyond that.

Rooms

My standard king room was of ample size and clean, though the view was not ideal as it overlooked a parking lot. the A/C worked well, ensuring a comfortable stay.
Service

The front desk staff was somewhat unhelpful initially, especially when I needed change for tipping. yet, the young lady who assisted me later was accommodating and made the transition to a different room smoother.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location was fantastic, very close to Montejo Avenue and plenty of local hangouts. I could easily walk to restaurants and shops, which was a major plus.
Dining

Breakfast offered a buffet that was decent, but overall, the dining experience didn't stand out. the outdoor area was lovely, though I found the dinner to be just average.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities were basic and felt more geared towards function than luxury. while it offered essential services like room service and laundry, the ambiance and overall appeal left much to be desired.
